Le présent travail traite deux films à motifs antiques: Scandales romains (1933) et La Vie de Brian (1979). Les deux films sont des comédies qui, bien que leur action soit située ‒ du moins en partie ‒ dans l’Antiquité, contiennent en réalité une satire sociale de l’actualité. Quelle est la signification de l’Antiquité dans ces comédies et de quelles manières s’y construit l’humour? Quelles sont les questions que la réception de ces deux films peut poser? Qu’est-ce que la parodie et de quelle manière à travers ce genre peut-on établir un lien avec l’Antiquité?
