Apstrakt

Ovaj tekst predstavlja etnološku i antropološku studiju Zangbeta kod naroda Ogu (Egun) u Badagriju, Nigerija. Studija koristi istraživački pristup koji se zasniva na kvalitativnoj metodi: intervju, diskusija u fokus grupi i ispitivanje ključnog informanta. Procedure svrsishodnog i odgovarajućeg uzorkovanja bile su korišćene u odabiru ispitivanog područja i broja ispitanika (40). Metod analize sadržaja primenjen je na građi sakupljenoj na ovaj način. Rezultati studije pokazali su da Zangbeto još uvek predstavlja snažnu društvenu mašineriju policijskog nadzora i obezbeđenja ljudskih života i imovine u društvu Badagrija. Takođe je pokazano da Zangbeto ima značajnu ulogu u procesu mirenja zavađenih strana, ali i kao okvir društvene zabave i kulturnog predstavljanja. Ova studija poziva na vraćanje u javni život Zangbeta kao tradicionalnog načina policijskog nadzora i obezbeđivanja života i imovine u ovoj zajednici, ali i na kontinuirana istraživanja afričkih društava da bi se otkrili načini na koja afrička društva mogu sama sebi pomoći onda kada i gde vesternizacija (pozapadnjenje) njihovih ustanova nema uspeha.
